tamrys's Full Review: Ultima Online Renaissance for Windows
Having played Ultima Online for 3 years now, I can safely say that it is by far my favorite RPG. The graphics for the game have fallen a bit behind as other companies have started spawning their own massive 3D worlds. However the graphics in Ultima have always impressed me with their detail.
The game world itself is immense. The first step once you've installed the game is to choose which server you wish to start on. There are 20ish servers located across the US and internationally as well. You can have up to 5 characters per server.
Then it's time to pick a path for your character. Will you be dungeon hoping swordsman with just enough magic ability to heal yourself. Or will you be a tank mage hurling e-bolts at your enemies while your comrades in arms protect you? Or even a fisherman trying his luck and fortune in the oceans of Britannia. Who knows, you could pull up a treasure chest full of gold and loot, or a sea serpent which could have you for lunch.
The game offers you unlimited options as to who you will be and what you will do. You could save enough gold to buy a house and sell bread and clothing you have made, or just use that house for storing the masses of magical items and gems you have accumulated killing liches and dragons.
Whatever path you choose, you will love this game. Before you know it, you will join the rest of us sitting at your computer till the wee hours of the night hacking slashing or baking ;) your way to fame and fortune.
