| BLINKEYE1's Full Review: Ultima Online |
I played Ultima Online a few months ago. It was great when I started. I love stories of magic, monsters, and heroes and thought this game was exceptional because it made you part of a never-ending fantasy story.
That's how it was for me for the first five or six weeks. The game was great. It gave me a chance to interact with real people in a game setting and to experience something not possible in real life, but then it got worse. When I had free time it was always spent playing UO. I went to the Stratics page (a website filled with all kinds of UO related material.) all the time to try to help me be one of the best in the game. My friend and I would take our characters out together and talk to each other on the phone while we played so we could have an advantage over anyone or anything who opposed us in the game. It just got out of control.
Luckily I began to realize how it was taking up all my free time. I also recognized the fact that it made me angry in real life when I had an unfortunate event in the game. The game was meant to be fun, but half the time it was a chore because I had to buy supplies every time I got killed. I quit and I am glad I did. Unfortunately some people are so hooked on this game that they become almost completely out of touch with reality. IT'S JUST A GAME! DON'T LET IT RUN YOUR LIFE!
